New house construction Oxshott
Oxshott is a quietly-populated suburban village in the borough of Elmbridge, in Surrey. It is situated between the large towns of Esher and Leatherhead, and features a hilly heath, anglican church, several schools, two public houses, and other local amenities.
Many of Oxshott’s residential areas are on private roads, gated off and inaccessible to the general public. This, alongside the large and desirable properties that form much of the village’s housing stock, have contributed to the villages’ status as the “most expensive village in England”.
Historically, the Crown Commissioners limited early housing development to mansions or villas suitable for the occupation of wealthy families. Examples of these include Danes Hill, Broom Hall, and Bevendean. Since, however, the village has expanded and now includes most types of housing – except for medium and high-rise. According to the 2011 census, the average level of accommodation in the region composed of detached houses was 28%, the average that was apartments was 22.6%.
