Located on the North Downs in the Borough of Reigate is the large village of Kingswood. This unique and popular village is complete with many grand family homes and fantastic architecture, and is surrounded by beautiful undulating countryside. JVB Construction is proud to look after many clients in Kingswood, delivering large-scale projects on time and on budget.
History of Kingswood
Once a small Saxon hamlet, the area of Kingswood was simply known as it sounds today, the King’s Wood. The swathes of forest were designated as royal game reserves and the entire area was a hunting ground for the surrounding community.
By 1770, rural life flourished in Kingswood as it became an established village. Road improvements made it easier for residents to travel to market at Banstead and Reigate, and eventually the population grew. The then owner of Kingswood Warren, Thomas Alcock, became benefactor for the 19th century village church, St Andrews, which contributed to the growing success of the village.
Today Kingswood is popular residential area located within the commuter belt. It offers much sought-after private roads, gated communities, and many impressive family mansions featuring immaculately manicured gardens and grand landscaped driveways. Many of the residents are heartened that pheasants still appear on the heath and the rabbits still occupy the woodland, just as they did over 1,000 years ago.
